The third artist that I looked at for my Painting project was Marie Louise Hamman, an artist who makes very detailed charcoal drawings of interiors. I was really interested by her drawing of the staircase, I like it because of how precise and measured it is. It also really appeals to me the materials she used; cardboard and charcoal, I don’t see these materials as precious but she has made something delicate and beautiful from them.

I decided I would use Marie Louise Hamman's influence to create an industrial interior painting of a metal staircase which is within the Priestman Building, I took several pictures from the top floor of the building looking down the staircase which created interesting spaces and different angles of each of the below floors. I wanted my paintings to have a clinical finish, I made certain that each floor was a different colour so that it was recognisable as a staircase and created space within the painting.
