For my 1st year Fine art Painting project, I had to create several paintings to do with Private, Public, Industrial and Domestic interiors. I looked at four different artist, all with unique styles to help me with my project. Throughout the painting project we were set tasks to do for each week, to begin with we had to create four information drawings, so I brainstormed locations and ideas for each interior space. For my public space, I used the Murray Library. For my private interior I looked at myself, as this is where I normally go for when I want to be alone. For my industrial interior I looked at the metal staircase within the Priestman building and finally for my domestic interior, I used my bedroom. At the start of the project, I was unsure whether or not I would get enough from these locations, they were all pretty boring but I recall it was the colours of each of these locations I enjoyed about them.

Throughout the weeks, we had to then make four A3 paintings using our information drawings, this was pretty easy as I just up scaled my initial drawings, spending more time on them. We then had to do further paintings from these A3 paintings which I found to be a bit more difficult, but I tried to simplify and quicken up my paintings, letting myself go which I don't normally do. I used unconventional methods, like applying my paint with a plastic knife just to see what marks I could make.

In the final week we had to create a huge painting onto canvas which had to incorporate more than two of the interiors, I initially planned a mock sketch of what I wanted my final piece to be. I didn't find the size of the canvas an issue, what I found difficult was actually using the paint on canvas as this was the first time really that I had done it. I don't see myself as a painter and for me to tackle this task was something I just had to crack on with. The final outcome was alright in my personal opinion, but I received good feedback so I was pleased.
