After reviewing what I learnt from doing the Alvin Lucier experiment, I listened to the recordings I had previously taken and I was really interested by the repetition of the strokes from the charcoal on the paper, they were short, sharp and scratchy. I quickly made a paper sculpture with various degrees of height and width which represented the noises of the charcoal, this was my initial idea.

I looked at an artist named Matt Shlian, who worked with paper as his medium, he specializes in the art of paper folding. His work shouted out to me as it had different textures and surfaces, the paper was short and sharp just like my audio of the charcoal. I found his work very interesting and I started to do little experiments in paper with repeating patterns, this formed the basis of my final idea.
