In my first week of the 2nd year Fine art course I already had a clear idea of what I wanted to do for my project, I want to look into interiors and whether design could be considered as fine art. So, during the first week I researched artists references who explored interiors and interior design as well as artists/groups who created their own interesting furniture using wood and other materials like resin and glass.

Once finding my references, I decided I would use watercolour to paint there work and I also wanted to paint from observation which would be used to help explore my own themes and generate ideas. I decided to paint in rather tonal colours, very similar colours to the wood log slice, I think the paintings turned out pretty well, I especially enjoyed painting the wood log slice as there was different textures to the wood itself and trying to paint something from an object was quite difficult.

After doing my watercolour paintings, I found a new direction to head. I found the wood log slice very interesting and wanted to learn how to raise a grain so I could use different print making methods to make unique prints from the slice.
