Wood Log Disk Prints

During this time, it was coming close to my Crit in the Shaun Project Space, so I wanted to mass produce work to some relative ease, I decided I would work within the printing workshop and I would go back to using the wood log disk as it was a natural material and I had previously enjoyed working with it. I chatted with Kath about printing methods I could use, she mentioned that I could use screen printing to mass produce but that would have required too many steps, so I decided I would use relief inks again.

I set up my area and I rolled out my ink onto the raised wood disk, I wanted to test out different colours instead of sticking with natural / wood colours. Using purples, reds, blacks and bright oranges was really out of my comfort zone, I quite liked playing around and testing, I even tried doing some collages by sticking coloured paper down and then print onto that, I also used talc powder to block the ink, I also burned a couple of the prints to give them a smoky affect. The outcome was very different to what I had imagined but I thought it had worked out well , I decided I would make them into a little series.
