My Crit

This week I had my critique, I was initially going to show all my work that I had done but I was recommended to just show my most successful pieces, I ended up choosing just a handful of my artwork to be shown to my fellow peers. I spent some time arranging my artwork onto the wall in an organised and measured way, I decided to do this as I wanted to set up a mock interior.
The feedback and discussion I received was mostly positive, my fellow students could tell that I enjoyed and had clearly thought about the processes and techniques to creating my prints, they mentioned that they were good tests and experiments, which I was pleased with. They were interested in the wood log slice which I had on display on top of a plinth, I described to them that I had used that to create my work by burning it and then raising the grain, I mentioned that I thought that the wood slice was strong enough to be a piece of its own and that I considered it to be a sculpture, which people agreed with.
The ideas generated in the group discussion was to continue working with the more natural wood, I described to my peers that I was hoping to combine wood and resin to create tables, wall pieces and sculptures, at the time I had only one or two examples of using resin but they were failed attempts so they were intrigued to see a finished piece. So overall, it was a pretty good crit.
