Gallery Space

The final context that I needed to test my work in was the gallery space. I decided I wanted to show my work directly on the floor similar to all my references, I wanted to equally space and order my blocks on the floor similar to Carl Andre, I also wanted to build my three dimensional free standing sculptures too to see whether having them on a nice polished wood floor and 'official' gallery space would change the way that people view my work. When displaying my artwork within this environment, this is the first time my work felt out of place, my work felt incredibly small, my work was dwarfed by the size of the room. If I was to show my work within a gallery, I would have to make it site specific or I would have to enlarge the scale of my blocks which certainly would be interesting to experiment around with. Even though my work looked out of place, I quite enjoyed the way it looked within the space, my work felt more professional.
